Description: 17.5" GLADDIE Doll by Helen Jensen for George Borgfeldt--1920's Bisque/earthenware head, cloth body, composition (?) limbs. Face has a couple of cheek rubs. Brown sleep eyes open and close. She is clearly marked on the back of her neck. I am not positive that the body is original...all the Gladdies I've seen have had full, disc-jointed composition limbs. This one does not. Maybe Gladdie was also made with this less expensive, non-jointed body so she could be sold at a lesser cost? She wears a sweet, old dress appropriate to her era and a one piece undergarment. Old socks and shoes--one shoe is tearing on the side. Wonderful character face! Non-smoking but pet-friendly home.
