This is the 500 Francs currency note issued by The French Republic in 1944. The note is brown with various shades of the color. It depicts the portrait of Marianne at left of the front within a circle. The note shows the denomination and the serial number on the front. The note is unsigned on neither the front of back. The back has the same color scheme as the front and displays the denomination in both numbers and letters. The banknote has no watermark that we could find. This particular note has the serial number 559301 and it is series 75M. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description. Date: The banknote has no date but is known to have been issued in 1944. Printer: Although unmarked, it is known to have been printed by Thomas De La Rue in England. Size: Measures ~5 3/8" by ~3 1/8". Pick Number: P106. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine or better with all the details well preserved. This is an attractive note showing evidence of some handling and wear. It has several vertical and one horizontal fold. The note has minimal soiling and no appreciable staining. The note retains some of its original crispiness and the paper is stiff. It has no tears, no splits, and the edges minimum slight wear. Corners also show wear but not full rounding. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, and is in great original condition. It does have wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. Please see photo for additional condition information.
