Description: My apologies to everyone, I know it's been a while since I've listed any Alaskan Artifacts. At a time when you think life should slow down it really doesn't, there is more tasks to be done than ever with a little bit of play mixed in. I've had the opportunity to visit some of the most remote places in Alaska, adding both to my collection and my appreciation of Alaska's early cultures and the proud and generous people who struggle to keep those traditions alive in our modern world. While collections grow my space does not and so pieces need to be passed on. I want to start where my collection started with the ancient torpedo shaped lures hand carved and prized on the western shores of Alaska's vast coastline. It's no great revelation to say that early Bering Sea Cultures depended on the bounty of the Bering Sea for their survival and each of these lures were critical to that survival story. Plus they are awesome to hold, centuries of patina on a purpose built artifact with eyelets on the belly to hold small hooks, eyelets in the tail to bind line to pole and most have eyes and facial features to give the lure life.
