Description: This beautiful one-of-a-kind antique 1900-1930's Tribal Kilim rug makes it's way from the Aksaray Selime Monastery in Cappadocia. This beautifully aged kilim features the Nazar (evil eye) motif. The Nazar is a symbol of Protection. With history dating back to Mesopotamia, Anatolia, it is said to provide protection against people’s jealousies and ill wishes.This rug features an extremely dense, tightly flat-woven wool pile. Natural dyes and colors include: orange, crimson, ochre yellow, and purple. This hand made rug is made of non-shedding hand spun wool making it easy to clean, and making it incredibly soft to walk and lounge on. This densely woven wool rug contains natural oils called lanolin that naturally resist dirt and grime, therefore allowing it to look cleaner for much longer than synthetic rugs. Regular vacuuming will remove any dirt and grime, and allow you to enjoy your rug for many decades. We are a long time family run business based in the U.S. with direct support from our family in Turkey. We source our inventory directly from Turkey and the surrounding regions.
