Description: Rare find: This item is hard to come by. An antique covered dish made of semi royal porcelain, also called white granite, made by Johnson brothers in Staffordshire England. This beautiful antique covered dish with its scroll style handles and gold accents adds elegance to the table in a most versatile way. The white granite is similar to ironstone. It was valued for its strength and durability. With its classic shape, scroll style handles, bright white color and hand painted gold detailing. This hard to find peace offers just the right amount of design and simplicity, offering numerous styling options and functions. Not limited to simply serving food and keeping it warm. This dish also makes a lovely table centerpiece, storage vessel or decorative statement piece. Features two pieces that consist of lid and base. Contains embossed detailing, hand painted gold design on lid handle and two covered side handles and a long scrolled lid edge and bottom bowl. Stamped on bottom with Johnson Brothers, England, green stamp Made 1913 according to the markings. Condition for this 100 plus year old piece: There is one inside edge of the handle lid shows a hairline crack. It does not show any breaks on the other side. There is one very small smooth chip on the lid of the base. See my photos with pin. There are two small extra glazed drips on the top edge of the bowl. Otherwise exceptionally elegant and in great antique condition. No crazing either. Round shaped measures 11 inches wide with side handles and 9 inches without handles and 3 inches high and with lid is 5 and 1/2 inches tall. Non smoking pet free home.
