Description: Antique Art Deco Flapper Orange Black Enamel Mesh Mandalian Purse 1920 Halloween This vintage 1920s Mandalian Mfg. Co. enameled mesh Art Deco flapper purse has a chain handle and a kiss lock clasp closure. The cream, orange and black design is an Art Deco medallion style with a flower border at the top. The frame has a beautiful leaf and flower design, with larger swirly leaf flourishes on the corners and at the kiss lock clasp closure. The purse is signed Mandalian Mfg. Co. on the frame. It is the perfect vintage accessory for a fashionable Halloween flapper costume! The Mandalian Manufacturing Company was owned by Sahatiel Mandalian, who designed and patented the unique metal mesh fabric, and the method of painting the flat metal mesh. Later, he also developed and patented a machine to make the flat metal mesh. Mandalian’s Turkish background can be seen in the designs used to decorate many of his mesh purses. This Mandalian mesh purse is truly a part of fashion history. Details:- Marks: MANDALIAN MFG CO- Color: Silver, cream, orange, black- Materials: Metal, enamel- Dimensions: The purse is approximately 7 ¼ " long from the top of the clasp to the end of the longest point of the mesh body. The fringe is 1” long. The chain handle is 12” long and has a 6” drop. The purse body is 4” wide.- Condition: Good - there is some enamel wear and some side links need to be reattached to the frame, some of the bottom chain fringe is shorter or missing. Also, there is an unusual jumpring with a chain added to the bottom. Since our items are vintage/antique, they may show wear from normal use.
