Description: this is a beautiful vintage oil on canvas board painting of Orleans (Cape Cod) bay in late summer featuring the main focus of the painting which is a weather-beaten fishing vessel tied up at its wooden dock located in the middle of the painting - to depict the fishing vessel, a "quohog dragger" named the Wild Duck", the talented artist used a palette of shades of blue-green color for the hull, & off-white & gray for the vessel's small cabin with patches of light blue for the cabin windows - there are also streaks of black & dull red within the blue-green color of the hull to suggest a weather worn paint surface - the bay water is very calm allowing a view of a dull blue-green hull shadow on the water as well as the off-white shadow of the cabin - in the foreground of the painting is an incredible mixture of multiple paint colors - to the right, the artist used light beige colors to depict the sandy beach area with dull brown & green vegetation growing in the sand - there is a light blue-gray pool of ocean water at the edge of the beach, beyond which is some light green vegetation in the bay water - to the left of the green vegetation are what appear to be some rocks painted in dark brown beyond which is a part of an old weather-beaten dock which is also dark brown in color - it appears to be low tide as much of the bay surface is seen as brownish in color which suggests the water surface is reflecting the muddy sand beneath the surface of the bay water - on the other side of the bay, the viewer sees a simple house in off-white, gray, & brown colors with much foliage behind the house done with a palette of various shades of green & brown colors - the painting itself measures 16" x 20" sight size, & is in very good vintage condition - the painting is well-enhanced by its original gilded wooden frame which measures 18" x 22", & which is in very good vintage condition - the talented artist signed the painting "E.Z. Foley" in the lower left corner of the painting - apparently, the artist had an art studio in South Eastham (Cape Cod) during the 1950's & 1960's -
