Description: Here's a rare souvenir of Jacksonville, Florida. It's a wooden, tomahawk shaped, piece with an abalone veneer and a thermometer on the front. The tomahawk measures approximately 6 1/4" long and 3" wide. A small metal thermometer is mounted on the handle. "Jacksonville, Fla" is hand penned on the front. There is an "eye" at the top of the handle for hanging. Note the handwritten date on the back. It's hard to photograph but I can make out (in person) "Feb. 22 190?". I think it's 1906 but I'm not positive about that last number. That makes this souvenir 118 years old! It's in excellent condition considering the age. The abalone all looks and feels complete. The thermometer seems to work, although it's hard to see the silver liquid inside. Please feel free to email with any questions prior to bidding or buying.
