Description: Vintage Unbranded Gold-Filled Fountain Pen - 14kt Gold Nib - Restored The 1920's were considered the "golden age" of fountain pens with many smaller manufacturers making great quality pens with gold nibs, many of which either went out of business or decreased the quality of their pens after the start of the Great Depression. This pen is likely from that period, maybe the mid to late 1920's. This particular ringtop pen (originally designed to be worn on a chatelaine or necklace) is unbranded and was probably made by a smaller manufacturer. Please note that this pen is a bit of a "frankenpen" in that some parts have been replaced. The original section was damaged so I have replaced it with the section and nib from a very similar pen from the same time period. I wanted to mention this separately from the notes below - the pen has some dry out issues. Leaving the pen without writing overnight for several hours required me to flex the nib a tiny bit to get ink to start up again. That being said, once it's writing, the flow is very consistent and it does not stop. Features: - Gold-filled (essentially heavy gold plated) brass body pen. Durable metal body pen.- Restored with new sac and modern pressure bar replacement, nice and springy. Ready to write!- 14kt gold medium nib - reasonably smooth and has some flex to it. Please note, I am not sure if this nib has any tipping or it is very worn. From the top I cannot see any but from the bottom I can see a little bit of silver-ish metal. Please take a look at the pictures.- Small but comfortable size. Condition Notes: - Gold fill layer is very worn, there is a fair amount of tarnish on the pen, particularly on the body. I have attempted to get as much of it off as I could but it still shows some age. Various scratches/scuffs/etc. This pen is likely nearly 100 years old and it does show its age a bit.- As mentioned above, I am not sure if the pen has any tipping left. Even so it writes fairly smoothly and has a nice stubby character to it. I found it to be a really enjoyable writer personally.- The cap/body threads are a little rough, screwing the cap on feels tight and requires some force but it holds on well. Overall this is a pretty cool antique (or almost antique!) pen. It has some issues and has been priced accordingly but it's a great option if you want a metal body pen from this era without spending over a hundred bucks. It deserves a loving home and I don't think you will be disappointed. :) Please read the description above and see pictures, they are a part of the description. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or require any additional pictures. I can send them over as needed. Thank you!
