Handle This wood purse is 5½" tall with a 4½" handle.I think the nice swirl handle is Bakelite (though it may be Lucite or Celluloid).I believe it is Bakelite because of the color and smooth feel.All the Lucite I've ever seen is clear / translucent and Celluloid is usually shades of off-white or pink.This purse is 8½" wide by 6½" deep. The lacquer has 2 chips missing (one on each front corner).But because the color is consistent, it is not really noticeable unless held up to the light.There is very noticeable crazing in the lacquer.When I got this, the hinges were loose and missing screws.I replaced the missing screws, so the hinges are no longer loose.If you look on the inside, you can see that someone tried to replace the screws with screws that were too long (leaving tiny holes). The ball clasp works as it should and the gold ball feet are all intact.The handle and the interior are perfect.This whimsical box purse is clean and odor-free.And comes from a smoke-free home.
