Description: Welcome to my PrettyDollyBay Studios. 🌹 Baby Dear 18” Full Bodied Floopy VOGUE Baby Doll is yours to consider adopting. I realize times are such that offers on vintage dolls will be made. And I am open to that. I restored this doll. She’s a great example of how if done properly, a ReRoot can be near as close to original. By taking the time to read this entire description you’ll get to know me and her quite well…. Take a look. Please Read. Fully restored hair except the original top knot that is a near perfect blend. (Last image show pre-condition). I use a synthetic hair type that was used back in the 60s. The center “knot” was so full I just didn’t have the heart to remove all the yummy original hair. So my decision to root only what was dry, brittle, thinned, chopped and frayed seems to be the answer. Basically she got a full head ReRoot but for the top layer. All the plugs are sealed permanently inside her head which was removed and now is held in place with a zip tie instead of a wire that twists and can tear the cloth body over time. The plastic zip tie does protrude out but with that being said its advantage is that it does help the head stay forward and that is a good thing because as these dolls’ cloth bodies age, the weaker cloth parts will tear. As she is already consider “antique” ( and so am I— ha ha!) I want to be sure another half century and more will be in her future. I usually sign my heads and I will in a inconspicuous area. It is a symbol only. Her cloth body is constructed well. A bit of fray on neckline and one pin hole noted on backside. What is lightly smeared on her front looks like toothpaste or paint. It doesn’t bother me so I left it. She is vinyl clean. Her left inner wrist has an indent. Not sure about this. Inner arm at elbow has pimples in vinyl. These don’t scrape off. I believe this is from the vinyl mold form during manufacturing process. Baby Dear is precious. She was a paler version of what you see. I have improved the vinyl color and enhanced her newborn birth coloring just like a Mint in Box Vogue Baby Dear has. Speaking of that, the last two pictures in this offering are comparison of my work to a mib baby dear. I think the pictures speak for themselves. ❤️ since posting originally I have had the pleasure of meeting the seller of the comparison mint baby dear and have credited her pictures. We all need to respect our property and therefore the picture shown is her (sold) doll and my current doll here watermarked. Thank you Kate❤️ Should you be the one to adopt her, I’ll personally send all the before and some during the restoration pictures (if)should you want them. She wears a dress ensemble I created out of vintage fabric and embroidery thread. The only thing new on this is the ribbon and white cotton lace. The entire dress ensemble, booties, and blanket all were made with her in mind. I love her and want her to be loved properly and sent with a unique and never seen again dress and receiving blanket. Finally, the vintage receiving blanket is vintage flannel in white with pink rosebuds on one side and solid pink on other. Because I work with vintage fabric (as a rule), you may see some imperfections in color of some of the blanket construction. The lace is also all vintage. Baby’s booties were also knitted by me to coordinate with the pink knobs in the lace in her dress. To my sense of smell I can detect no offensive odors on baby dear. I have a pretty good sniffer.
