Description: This is an original WWII poster by Boris Efimov from the year 1941 which measures roughly 20 x 28 inches. This is an extremely rare poster. The last time this poster went to auction in 2017, it sold for $2,375. A description of the poster from the book "Windows on the War: Soviet TASS Posters at Home and Abroad": "Originally, these were images for the TASS Window 22, which depicted Hitler, Göring and Goebbels. They 'were lampooned . . . for possessing none of the physical attributes that the Nazis assigned to the ideal Aryan. The contrast between text and image pointedly and wittily demonstrates the disjuncture between Nazi ideology and reality . . . particularly striking here is the degree to which Efimov's caricature of Goebbels resembles Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse'". This poster is in great condition. It does have creasing, minor tears around the border, border wear, corner wear, marks at points on the poster, stamps / pencil writing and tape / stains on the back, and general wear. Please see all photos for condition as they are part of the description. The stamps on the back say "Elton M. Manuel 7 Walnut Street, Newport, R.I" with pencil writing "For the Newport Historical Society" dated 5/21/44. A second stamp says "Silk Screen Reproduction by Elizabeth Olds and Harry Gottlieb, Soviet Posters - Courtesy American Russian Institute." This poster will be packed carefully and shipped to locations in the United States. Please contact me with any questions.
